Joshua starts out with an incredibly brash and presumptuous statement: "You commentors [sic] are uncertain in your faith." Wow, I didn't know I am uncertain in my Catholic faith and I imagine the other commenters didn't realize that they are uncertain in their faith. It's a good thing we got this revelation from Joshua, although perhaps we can hope he was only joshing us.

Joshua continues: "Carl Sagan is a passionate man--the rare scientist that enthusiasticall y respected and honored those that chose a religious path." Whether CS was passionate is neither here nor there. The fact that he honored those that chose religious paths must be examined in its proper context. The fact is that he honored those of various religious persuasions/beliefs. This is religious indifferentism and religious indifferentism either leads to or emanates from agnosticism or atheism.

Whether CS was an agnostic or an atheist may be debated endlessly, but what is beyond debate is that the work of CS including Cosmos is thoroughly permeated with a belief in macro evolution which is absolutely antithetical to Christianity.

To show the obvious beauty and wonder of God's creation without ever acknowledging the actual Creator is to fall way short of the mark. It is, as in the case of CS's Cosmos, a mere exercise in naturalism, once again something which is completely antithetical to Christianity.

Finally, it is interesting to note that Joshua refers to God in his last sentence in the female gender: "her domain." Hmmm?

You commentors are uncertain in your faith. Carl Sagan is a passionate man--the rare scientist that enthusiasticall y respected and honored those that chose a religious path. His 13 hour Cosmos, produced for PBS in 1979 and 1980, is one of the most compelling cases for the majesty of God's power and expanse of her domain than has ever been produced.

Carl Sagan hit the world like the movie Jaws. All kinds of buzz and excitement. We later discover all the inaccuracies - but no matter - the deed is done.

We all should care, as this Scientism is an attack on God.
What sad, bankrupt irony. Man is nothing, a speck of insignificance, so Philosopher Sagan tells us. “We are lost in great darkness and there is no one to send out a search party.” Ah, so it is worse, Insignificant and hopeless! The old motives of the geocentrists, which were likewise founded on the insignificance of man, but in relation to God and heralded the hope of Christ, lay bare as a “tidy anthropocentric proscenium.” Yet, in continuing his diabolical twist of doublespeak, our sage concludes by telling us that “we are the custodians of life’s meaning”, that is followed by a soliloquy of the accomplishment of the collective “We”. Insignificant yet omnipotent.
See, it is not the anthropocentris m from which Sagan rebels, it is the Theocentrism. His diatribe is against knowledge and purpose derived from anything but man, which leads to his hatred of order that is true, fine tuned, order. Proclaiming scientism as the savior of man, he must reject the empirically obvious “order out of chaos” that our world presents and redefine it as disorder. So goes the diabolical polemic of deception.

Unfortunately, all too many continue to be influenced by this "living" icon whose voice still reverberates in science classrooms, lecture halls, textbooks, and as this film testifies even into our vastly dumbed down and politically and "scientifically" correct culture in general.

Who cares about this sci-fi PhD? He's gone to his eternal reward which I'm certain was well-earned.
