Substitute "illict" for "allocate" in my last sentence below. Darn Spellcheck!

Non-Spartacus:

Do you premise your comment that "Privatizing social security is insane when not merely evil" on the fact that the system already exists? or, is it an apologia for the concept of state run social security?

In my humble view, Our problem lies in the secularization of the government. Without acting in concert with Christ's Kingship, secularized government will always make disordered use of God's capital.

Secular state Redistribution of wealth is an anachronism. Our United States system of government can only properly function if the state leaves redistribution and paternalism to the Church and individuals.
Only then can our dollars be used for its intended purpose and not illicit ends.

Senator Sanders is essentially right but too many Christian Catholics have grown into adulthood during a time of Milton Freeman and Rush Limbaugh popularising the evils of capitalism as essential to "american exceptionalism" and liberty and men like Mr Robbie George counseling the USCCB to shut-up about Catholic Social Doctrine.

America has become a 3rd world banana republic in its class structure and it is getting worse, not better.

Privatising social security is insane when not merely evil.

amk, agreed. His comments on the estate tax are ludicrous, unless you start from a redistributive ideology. Estate taxes are simply a political true-up to support a proportionate tax burden. It attempts to latently implement a “just and fair” burden on the wealthy all the while keeping income tax rates at socially acceptable levels. Some layers of taxation, including generation skipping tax, can impose over 100% tax burden on the transfer. So, to transfer 1Million to a grandchild could impose over 1million tax liability. Granted, the burden of redistribution exists under social doctrine, it does not exist under mandate from the state, nor is it in the power of the state to implement. Forced redistribution of wealth is paternalistic thuggery, and does not reflect the True Paternal ideology of God. Compelled redistribution is inherently flawed and meritless.

RED FLAGS abound! He's another cheerleader for that Ponzi scheme Social Security. That tells me more than enough. Make no mistake, this guy is Big Government all the way. I couldn't even listen to his entire demagogic rant.
