Vatican Appoints Heresy-Holding Prelate as Prefect of CDF

We now have a Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Archbishop Gerhard Mueller, who himself publicly dissents from certain doctrines of the Faith.

He does not believe in Our Lady's Virginity in partu, contrary to the teaching of Vatican II's Lumen Gentium: 57 and the Popes, Councils and Doctors cited in support of that doctrine in the acompanying footnote 10. Mueller's reduction of this de fide physical miracle to a generic statement about the influence of "grace...on human nature" is the classic demythologizing tactic.

Even more astonishingly, Archbishop Mueller apparently holds a doctrine of Christ's presence in the Eucharist that is Lutheran (at best): the consecrated Species are not the true Body and Blood of Christ in his transfigured (risen) corporality; rather, the Lord just becomes "present" in what remains bread and wine. Mueller's view seems impossible to distinguish from that condemned as heresy by the Council of Trent (cf. Denzinger 884 = DS 1652).

Pope Paul VI insisted on this dogma in his 1964 Encyclical Mysterium Fidei, and again in what he considered the most important document of his pontificate, the 1968 Solemn Profession of Faith. Here the Holy Father proclaimed:

"Every theological explanation which seeks some understanding of this mystery must, in order to be in accord with Catholic faith, maintain that in the reality itself, independently of our mind, the bread and wine have ceased to exist after the Consecration, so that it is the adorable Body and Blood of the Lord Jesus that from then on are really before us under the sacramental species of bread and wine" (emphasis added)

This perennial Catholic doctrine is repeated in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraphs 1374-1377.

Mueller also has sympathies for the liberation theology of his close friend Gustavo Gutierrez. He also believes "Protestants are already members of the Church" - a position that would be clearly contrary to Pius XII's teaching in Mystici Corporis as to what constitutes "real membership" of Christ's Church.

The following passages are taken from Wikipedia concerning Archbishop Mueller. Note the passages underlined and in bold.

From Wikipedia:

Eucharist: In 2002, bishop Müller published the book "Die Messe - Quelle des christlichen Lebens" (St. Ulrich Verlag, Augsburg). In the book, he says : "In reality, the body and blood of Christ do not mean the material components of the human person of Jesus during his lifetime or in his transfigured corporality. Here, body and blood mean the presence of Christ in the signs of the medium of bread and wine."
Liberation theology
Müller was also a pupil of Gustavo Gutiérrez, the “father” of Latin-American liberation theology, with whom he has a long and close friendship. Commenting on Guitierrez, Müller stated: "The theology of Gustavo Gutiérrez, independently of how you look at it, is orthodox because it is orthopractic and it teaches us the correct way of acting in a Christian fashion since it comes from true faith." It is important to note that Gutiérrez’s thoughts were never censured by the Holy See although it was asked that he modify a few of his writings.[5]
Mariology
In his 900-page work "Katholische Dogmatik. Für Studium und Praxis der Theologie" (Freiburg. 5th Edition, 2003), Müller says that the doctrine of the Perpetual Virginity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is "not so much concerned with specific physiological proprieties in the natural process of birth [...], but with the healing and saving influence of the grace of the Savior on human nature."

It is extremely amusing to watch VII of all things being quoted to confirm this guy's heresy (or rather his non-belief). Have things really come to such a pass in Catholicism that the guy in charge of doctrine doesn't believe in anything? haha! SIC TRANSIT CATHOLICISM...

VATICAN COUNCIL II AFFIRMS EXTRA ECCLESIAM NULLA SALUS ACCORDING TO FR.LEONARD FEENEY: ALSO THE SYLLABUS OF ERRORS

A priest has criticizied the SSPX Chapter communique for saying outside the church there is no salvation ‘nor possibility to find the means leading to salvation’ since he assumes those saved in invincible ignorance etc are exceptions to the dogma on exclusive salvation.

Fr.Joe Jenkins criticizes the 'possible shades of Father Feeney in reference to the Church’ and says that the SSPX was ‘ usually very careful not to associate themselves with these extremists’. He does not see Vatican Council II having 'possible shades of Father Feeney’ and being an 'extremist' Council.

He cannot admit the obvious and say that those who are dead are not visible to us.Since if he did so then he would have to admit that the baptism of desire or being saved in invincible ignorance are not exceptions to the dogma or to Fr.Leonard Feeney. If he does not know any case in 2012 they cannot be exceptions to the dogma and then he cannot claim that Vatican Council II contradicts Fr.Leonard Feeney.

So he will still not admit that he cannot see the dead, for then it will be obvious that Vatican Council II affirms extra ecclesiam nulla salus according to Fr.Leonard Feeney.

This would mean Vatican Council II is in accord with the SSPX Chapter communique last month. This is an interpretation of Vatican Council II which could be frightful for him and his friends.

So the prospects are still bright for the SSPX. They are in accord with Vatican Council without the Richard Cushing error of being able to see the dead alive. The Council is in accord with the Syllabus of Errors.-Lionel Andrades

Dear Mr. Campbell. Here is a link to a piece posted at Free Republic by the handsome and holy Bornacatholic.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/1630548/posts

schism is the refusal of submission to the Roman Pontiff or of communion with the members of the Church subject to him.

That truth is a summary of nearly everything The Remnant regurgitates from the schismatic supper served it by The SSPX

I am not Spartacus-Your last response to me says nothing, a lot of accusations at Matt and Co., terms like " scission ", etc......but again, no real substance. So, you do not like them, have your head I guess in the sand over the last 50 yrs and no other info to offer. Odd, and they are not Sedes, but are bad somehow to you? I disagree with Ferrera/Matt on Palin back in 2008, fine and good. But no proof offered they are in schism, etc. Just a lot of emoting and labels thrown around.....

Dear Mr Campbell. The Remnant specialises in cultivating in its subscribers disobedience to the Pope and mockery of the Pope.

Ferrara and Matt and the stable of soi disant traditionalists who scribble for that parakeet-cage-quality scandal sheet are as stridently haughty as their refusal to submit to the Magisterium is odious.

What for them delineates acceptable Tradition are those personal preferences and prejudices corralled in the scission of their arrogant minds.

They wouldn't know Tradition if it bit them and their entire "resist the Pope" project is protestant private judgmentalism that masquerades as Tradition behind the banners of reprints of Papal Encyclicals , the explication of which they presume to be the sole interpreters of.

Not for them a Living Magisterium; the dead traditon of the past anchored in an intellectual construct of "eternal Rome" whateverinhell that is.

Dear Mr Campbell. You can defend that schismatic scandal sheet all you desire but any crummy publication that routinely trashes the Papacy ain't worth a wooden penny in my mind

No amount of rationalization by Archbishop Mueller, to the contrary, will change the fact that by adopting the precepts of Vatican II, the Church of Rome has simply ended up where Our Most Holy Mother predicted it would.  It is suffering the "Great Apostasy" [right now] as was foretold by St.Paul and in numerous Marian Appearances. Not until the Pope and all the Bishops of the world, in concert, obey God's mandate to "Consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Our Blessed Mother will anything positive happen in Rome; neither spiritually nor geopolitically.

Stephen, true, though there are plenty of under 40 yr olds that think V2 and everything since is either great or, just a big mistake (though they with the copy/paste function know more)
